How Much Will It Cost to Operate
My Hot Spring Spa?
Hot Spring Spas have proven that they are the most energy-efficient spas made and document this fact with test results by Exponent, Inc, the nation’s leading independent, scientific engineering firm. Exponent, Inc. calculated the actual energy consumption of Hot Spring Spas through rigorous third-party testing.
Premium features are designed into each Hot Spring Spa to ensure the lowest operating costs of any spa on the market today. The peace of mind that comes from knowing you’ll be able to use your Hot Spring Spa every day without fear of high utility bills…priceless. Purchasing a Hot Spring is a powerfully efficient decision.
How much it will cost to operate an EnergySmart™ Classic Series Hot Spring Spa depends on the model you own, the temperature you set, the frequency of use, the mean ambient temperature and the cost of energy where you live.
The following chart will give you a very close estimate. It is based on actual, documented energy consumption of a 115V Sovereign (our most popular model) set at 102 degrees (the most popular soaking temperature), used 6 times per week: 15 minutes with the jets on and 15 minutes with the jets off with each use, which is the most typical use pattern. EnergySmart™ “Classic Series” Sovereign: Less than $16.25 per Month.

Mean ambient temperature for the test period was 43 degrees (which is colder than the mean ambient temperature in Puget Sound: 51.4 degrees), thus in Spring and Summer months the cost will be proportionally less because the ambient temperature will be higher.
Based on the following utility rates obtained from each utility as of November 1, 2008:
Seattle City Light: $.0909 year round average rate (for use after the first 16kWh)
Snohomish PUD: $.082 year round average rate
Tacoma Power: $.075 year round average rate
Puget Sound Energy: $.090 (for use after the first 600 kWh)
